Artist's Comments

This project came to mind over the weekend while reading Lewis Carroll's (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson's) "Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There" (pub. 1872), the sequel to "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" (pub. 1866). "Through the Look-Glass" was a darker story than the original adventure of Alice, as this piece had been written during his years of depression following his father's death.

I've been researching various illustrated versions of "Alice" lately and have been dying to try my hand at a line from the book.

The narrative text for this piece is stylized from :iconevrae-viii: 's [link] . The rest of the work is my own original composition. I chose to veer away from the typical human or cartoonish versions of the queen as was started by the original illustrator John Tenniel so as to lend more to the fantastical realm that Carroll was trying to create.

Materials used:
Cold press watercolor paper
India ink
acrylic paints
several glasses of scotch and honey for the long nights or work

Size: 14 x 11 in.

I really like this! I like the concept. What's odd..is that I was just listening to "Alice Throught the Looking Glass" on audio CD. :3 Timing is weird. Nice composition. :D

So here ist is....it is really a wonderful piece! Your scripture is so wonderful, precise but lively...
In my opinion there are a bit too many colours in this piece, but well, it fits to Alice in Wonderland.

I really like the way you did the white Queen!

It is very unique done!

No, we can't understand the universe
